About the gig:
Current serving member of the legendary drone metal outfit SUNN O)))) Oren Ambarchi comes to Brisbane for the first time in several years to deliver a concert of pieces from his forthcoming album for the acclaimed UK record label Touch. Creating uniquely rich bass tones that literally shudder the room, his set promises to be a mesmerising experience where the guitar is transformed into something far beyond recognition.
Ambarchi is joined by New Zealander Antony Milton who has been making records, exhibiting/installing sound works and performing live under various nom de plumes (A.M, The Nether Dawn, Paintings of Windows, Mrtyu etc) since the early 1990s. He is also the curator of the PseudoArcana record label. Using predominantly analogue sources (tape loops, field recordings, amplified resonant objects, voice and guitar) Milton's performances have a high degree of intimacy and commonly range from the gestural and nuanced through to the visceral and ecstatic.
These players are joined by Turkish musician Batur Sonmez a student of the legendary composer Ilham Mimaroglu, who delivers a wild blast of unfamiliar noise.
